TEXTILE DESIGN

January 2024 – November 2024

Thank you for your interest in my textile and print design work. These prints are for JACHS NY, a Tribeca based brand in NYC. The company has their own ecomm site and sells to Costcos around the world.

During my time at JACHS, I designed original textile prints and apparel for their women’s line, JACHS Girlfriend. The Girlfriend aesthetic is soft, feminine, and dainty. The customer is the girl next door who married her high school sweetheart and now has a busy schedule with running a family. She has one to two kids, so while she still enjoys dressing up with feminine silhouettes and colors, she prefers her clothes to be no-nonsense and classic cuts.

My process begins with trend and color research, which I translate into a mood board for the season. From there I create a color palette with seasonal Pantone colors. I create a sourcing packet to send to mills and select fabric qualities with my team. Next, I start sketching print and embroidery designs according to the brand aesthetic that will be suitable for the selected fabrics of the season.

The majority of my print designs are hand illustrated before scanning and vectorizing in Adobe Illustrator. From there I’ll recolor the prints using the season’s colors and create perfect repeats. My team and I match prints to fabric qualities, and then I create production ready print handoffs to send to mills. As the lead Designer on the team, I’m responsible for approving strike-offs/hand looms of all print, woven, and knit designs.

Not shown in this project is the silhouette design, CAD pages, or tech packing which are part of my role as the lead Apparel Designer. I’m also present for fittings, review and make revisions for SMS samples, and work closely with mills and the sample room to insure development meets calendar deadlines.
